Beliani Supplier Code of Conduct

top banner

At Beliani, we strive to ensure that all suppliers who work with us understand and adhere to the social and environmental standards we expect. By doing business with us, suppliers acknowledge their commitment to comply with all relevant laws and regulations in their operating regions. This partnership is built on trust and mutual respect for long-term success.

These standards represent the minimum expectation and will be built upon through continuous improvement in the workplace and factory conditions with all Beliani suppliers.

Expectations for all partners

Honest communication

We are committed to open and clear communication. All manufacturing facilities, whether owned or outsourced, must be fully disclosed to Beliani.

Dedication

Beliani expects its suppliers to:

  • Uphold the principles outlined in this document.
  • Ensure that all employees and contractors fully comprehend and meet these standards.

Beliani will provide guidance and tools to support the commitment to these practices.

Our partnership approach

We encourage all suppliers to continuously enhance the quality of working conditions within their factories and workplaces. Suppliers must offer Beliani complete transparency in regards to their supply chain, ensuring that all facilities meet our standards in labour, welfare, and environmental matters.

Safety and well-being

We urge all suppliers to create a safe, healthy, and secure environment for their workers, customers, contractors, and surrounding communities, ensuring the well-being of all affected by the production process.

Monitoring and auditing

  • Beliani reserves the right to conduct social and environmental audits at any time, with prior notice or unannounced. In the initial phase, audits will be coordinated with the factories to allow for appropriate preparation.
  • After an audit, suppliers must provide a corrective action plan and submit any necessary documentation.
  • If serious issues are found during an audit, a follow-up inspection will be conducted at the supplier’s expense to confirm the resolution of the non-compliances. Failure to resolve critical issues will impact the continued business with Beliani.

Beliani’s fundamental principles for suppliers

Beliani is committed to aligning its operations with the United Nations universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. We expect the same from our suppliers. Suppliers must comply with all local and national laws, including those related to labour, immigration, health and safety, and environmental protection. In addition, we require full adherence to:

  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • The United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
  • Relevant ILO conventions concerning child labour, forced labour, workplace safety, discrimination, working hours, and compensation.

This Code of Conduct outlines the fundamental expectations that Beliani has for its suppliers to ensure that all individuals involved in our production process are treated fairly, regardless of their location. Adherence to this code is mandatory.

Core principles

1. No child labour

The use of child labour is strictly prohibited. We adhere to ILO standards, the United Nations Convention, and local laws, which prohibit children under 15 years of age from being employed. Youth workers under 18 should not perform hazardous tasks or work during night shifts or overtime.

2. No forced labour

Beliani does not condone any form of forced or involuntary labor. Suppliers must not withhold any wages, benefits, personal documents, or any form of coercion to force workers to remain employed.

3. Non-discrimination

All workers must be treated with respect, regardless of their sex, age, religion, race, nationality, disability, family status, or any other personal characteristic. Discrimination in recruitment, pay, training, promotion, or dismissal is unacceptable.

4. Working hours and overtime

Suppliers must adhere to legal working hour limits and provide fair compensation for overtime. Regular working hours should not exceed the maximum number of hours per week as regulated by local laws, and overtime should always be voluntary and compensated at the appropriate rate.

5. Fair compensation

Employees must be paid in accordance with the local minimum wage laws. Suppliers should ensure that wages meet the basic needs of workers and their families and are paid punctually. Overtime must be compensated appropriately.

6. Freedom of association

Workers must have the freedom to form and join unions and engage in collective bargaining. Suppliers must respect the right of workers to organize and negotiate their working conditions.

7. Workplace health and safety

A safe and healthy working environment is a priority. Suppliers must minimize risks by implementing safety measures, providing necessary protective equipment, and ensuring workers receive regular safety training.

8. Environmental stewardship

Suppliers must comply with all environmental laws and international standards. Efforts should be made to minimize the environmental footprint by reducing waste and adopting sustainable practices.

9. Supply chain transparency

Suppliers must provide Beliani with complete visibility into their supply chain. This includes disclosing all manufacturing sites and ensuring that subcontractors comply with the same standards outlined in this Code.

10. Management and accountability

Suppliers should have a system in place to ensure compliance with this Code, with documented processes for each area. Internal and external audits may be conducted to verify adherence.

11. Anti-corruption

Beliani expects all suppliers to operate with integrity and transparency, prohibiting any form of corruption or bribery. Suppliers must have measures in place to prevent unethical conduct and address corruption within their operations.

Reporting violations

If you witness or suspect any violations of this Code, we encourage you to report them confidentially. Concerns can be raised anonymously.
